Great Location and Staff, but the Building Shows Its Age. Overall, we had a good stay at the Renaissance Asheville. The location is fantastic, especially if you want to explore downtown, and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. The hotel itself looks nice and has clearly been updated, but once you spend some time there, you start to notice that the updates are essentially a new veneer over some pretty old infrastructure. The rooms and common areas are attractive, but there’s a very faint, persistent musty smell that seems to linger just behind everything. It isn’t overwhelming or enough that I’d call the hotel dirty, but it’s noticeable, and gives the impression that no amount of remodeling can completely hide the age of the building underneath. That said, the location really is hard to beat, the staff was great, and we enjoyed our stay overall. I’d stay here again, but I think it’s worth setting expectations appropriately. It’s a nicely renovated older hotel, not a genuinely new or modern property.

Stayed overnight for a work trip this past week. It had been 20 or so years since I’ve been in Asheville, and this hotel made me regret it being so long! The grounds and amenities were fantastic, and the breakfast in the morning was very well done. The beds, THE BEDS! I have not fallen asleep so easily and slept so well in a very long time! Will be staying here in the future! The view out the 8th floor was beautiful as well! Shoutout to Jessica at the front desk for being so very helpful with everything!

I had booked this hotel through booking.com. When checking in I used a different card to put in file. I was charged for my room again, plus another charge of $350 for a hold, which I expected to be a hold. At check out I told her what happened and she said it should fall off. The $350 did fall off after a few days. The $280 remained for the room they charged me for again. I called, and let them know. She said they didn’t see a charge for my room, only parking. She then said supervisor would call me back and never did. I called again a couple days later, and was told the same. They claimed I had no charge for the room, and β€œgood luck!” I called my bank right after, and he seen the charged and disputed it. I eventually got my money back that they supposedly never charged me for. This was entirely an extreme inconvenience due to my bank account being tied up with unnecessary charges. I’m not too sure why they couldn’t or didn’t want to see the charges on my account. The service and computer system used needs to be better or updated. The hotel itself was nice, and provided what we needed for the stay.

This hotel is extremely clean. The rooms are nice and cool, not stuffy like a lot of hotels. The beds, blankets, and pillows are all very comfortable. The hotel staff does a good job replacing used towels. The view is great from the eighth floor. The hotel is also in a great location with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. My one complaint is there are no trash bags for the trash cans.
